Watching your daughter grow up has by far been a beautiful and emotional experience. One minute it seemed we were just putting her hair into pigtails, and the next, she’s ending a chapter of grade school, heading to a new school and asking to get her eyebrows threaded.
My daughter, now stepping confidently into her teenage years, wanted her brows reshaped. Thanks to social media, it has had a positive impact on her self-care, beauty routine thus far. She’s been watching beauty videos, experimenting with skincare, and becoming more curious about self-care and grooming. So, I scheduled her first brow threading appointment, and it went a little something like this.
The Experience:
Like anyone diving into something new, you are a bit nervous at first! But she watched me get my brow threaded first and she proceeded to get her done right after. Ready, for her new brow shape, she laid on the table nervous and excited for the end result.
She made it through the brow threading process better than I thought she would have, but she did experience some watery eyes because she was pressing into her eyelid too hard, while assisting the technician for the threading process. Shortly after her services was over, we noticed some reddish bumps above her brows due to the product that was used post-threading. Thankfully after a few days they did go away.
Although my daughter’s first eyebrow threading experience came with a little discomfort and a small skin reaction — she is not letting that stop her from returning a second time. She said “beauty is pain” and she is willing to tough it out with a little pain to have her naturally beautiful brows “cleaned up”.
How do you feel about allowing your teenager having their brows reshaped with wax or threading?
